The first session of strategic modeling of water resources management and water use economics in Ukraine “Time of Water”

On March 11, 2026, the first session of strategic modeling of water resources management and water use economics in Ukraine was held in Kyiv — the first stage of the “Time of Water” project of the Ukrainian Water Association.

The meeting was opened by the Deputy Minister of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine Iryna Ovcharenko, who delivered a welcoming speech.

The participants were also welcomed by:
— Ihor Hopchak, Head of the State Water Resources Agency of Ukraine;
— Yevhen Kun, President of the Ukrainian Water Association.
— Natalka Tsmots, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to Ukraine
—Suray Vitaliy, Director of the Department of Life Support Systems

After the opening, the moderators provided guidelines on the format of strategizing and further work during the session.

The purpose of the meeting was to promote the transformation of the water sector of Ukraine, increase its investment attractiveness, form economic models for the development of sectors and the industry as a whole, as well as initiate joint projects between all key stakeholders.

The event brought together representatives of business, water utilities, international donors, government agencies, relevant ministries, science, industry associations and the public sector.
